Citadel Music Policies and Guidelines
EXPECTATIONS: Weekly attendance, promptness & preparation is expected as well as a positive attitude. Students must PRACTICE regularly as your teacher directs.
CANCELING A LESSON:
- Call YOUR TEACHER or 269-925-1099 to cancel a lesson. In this time of transition with off site lessons notification is very important. You can also email your teacher or dietrichreed@yahoo.com or dietrichreed@citadelDMC.org
- 24hr. minimum notification of absence is required for an absence to be EXCUSED. Otherwise the absence is considered UNEXCUSED and you will be responsible for full payment of the missed lesson. This also applies to scholarship students. More notice is preferred if possible.
- If teacher cancels lesson, there will be no charge to you and every attempt to notify you will be made.
- Make-up lessons may be offered at the teacher’s discretion but are limited do to schedule availability.
- Two unexcused absences can result in termination.
Exceptions to the 24hr. rule:
- Extreme student illness or emergency situations. Failing to practice, general disinterest, shopping, birthdays, forgetting instrument, etc. are not emergencies.
- PAYMENT
- Lessons are to be paid for one month in advance if cash(in envelope) or check payment –Payments are due by the 5th of the month unless another arrangement has been made. New students MUST pay for lessons prior to the first lesson. A $10 late fee will be charged if payment is not received on time.
- Checks, money orders, cash or credit cards (Visa, Master Card, Discover) are accepted.
- A form (can be downloaded) must be completed to authorize credit card billing. Credit card payments are run at the conclusion of the month for all lessons taken in the month.
- Invoices are not sent on a regular basis. Invoices will be sent monthly if an account is delinquent.
- Weekly or Biweekly payments can be arranged.
- Your account will be credited for any excused absences or teacher cancellations.
- Make checks payable to: Citadel Dance & Music Center and note student name, teacher and payment breakdown on the check for proper credit. This is especially important if there multiple lessons or siblings.
- Payments can be made on site via music payment box by director’s office or, mail slot in door after hours or by US mail to:

- Teachers DO NOT accept payment. Teachers are not aware of fees or account status. All account questions should be directed to Susan, Citadel Music Director.
- Lessons will be discontinued if an account becomes delinquent.
ANNUAL FEE
- $35 per person or $60 per family charge covers other program expenses beyond the music lesson/instructor fee. Annual Fees cover administrative, facility costs, bookkeeping, office expenses/supplies, piano tuning, instrument maintenance & recital costs.
MATERIALS
- Students are expected to have their instruments, books, assignment notebook and any other materials at ALL lessons.
RECITALS
- Students are expected to participate in recitals. Performing, listening to others & recital preparation is an important part of the Arts experience. Failure to participate may result in suspension from our program. Recitals are optional for adult students.
WEATHER CLOSINGS
- If area school districts are closed, this DOES NOT mean Citadel will be closed! If the Citadel is open, students are expected to attend lessons unless notified. WSBT 22, WSBT 960, Sunny 101.5, Oldies 94.3, Cat Country 99.9, www.wsbt.com,, AM 940, AM 1400,FM 107.1, FM 97.5, FM 94.9, FM 103.7, FM 98.3, Radio Stations of Southwest Michigan websites & my voice mail (927-0405) will carry closures.
When students are in lessons please wait quietly in designated areas. Limit cell phone usage as a courtesy to others. PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Restrooms are available. Thank you for choosing the Music Program at the Citadel and please call me at any time with any questions or concerns you may have.
