Lana Wordel – Percussion & Steel Band

Lana is principal percussionist with the Northwest Indiana Symphony & Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra in addition to playing with the South Bend Symphony and a regular substitute with other orchestras.  She has been a finalist and semi-finalist with major US symphonies.  Lana is also a member of the Pan Go Steel Band and the LaSte’Duo along with Nora Frisk, Citadel viola instructor.  She has a Bachelor of Music degree from Northern Illinois University.

Lana teaches all orchestra and marching percussion, tympani, drum set, mallet & Latin percussion, steel pans, congas & hand drums. She has maintained a private lesson studio and been a drum line/pit instructor for over 20 years in Indiana & Illinois. Her teachers include Chicago Symphony percussionists and principals of major US symphonies. In addition she has been a soloist, recorded and toured with Disney’s Lion King.

Lana is excited about starting a Steel Pan Band in this area based at Citadel.  She has her own drums which will be used for this purpose.  We are indeed fortunate to have a percussionist of this caliber on our staff and this fabulous new opportunity for area percussionists.
