Candace has been a piano and voice instructor, of group and private lessons, for over 35 years. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in being able to help students succeed, young or old. She brings fun, excitement to learn, and gentle discipline into her lesson experience. Her positive approach to learning, regardless of skill level or ability to learn, comes from her training and education. She received her Bachelor of Music/Music Therapy degree from Western Michigan University and worked at the Kalamazoo Regional Hospital after college. She then used her training to provide music services at Berrien RESA’s Lighthouse Education Center, where she still currently works with El and Al students.
She has taught piano and voice privately, and with different organizations, including The Salvation Army. Other professional positions in her roster have included Music Directorships and pianist at Twin City Players/TCPJr Players?CMW, pianist for local churches and choirs, accompanist for soloists (vocal and instrumental), and entertainer for parties/open houses/restaurants/churches.
Her personal philosophy is one that highly desires to help each and every person succeed by giving them the tools, showing them the way to be skillful, and most of all, have a strong and lasting desire to have music be a part of their life for a lifetime.
