We are extremely excited to present “The Citadel Spectacular” LIVE from the Citadel Dance & Music Center on December 19th, 2020. This production will embody the family culture we have developed in our dance program over the past 22 years and allow our newest generation of dancers to participate in one of our favorite traditions; Christmas at the Citadel. “The Citadel Spectacular” is an homage to the Holiday Season from Santa’s perspective. Santa Claus, (Andrew Fisher), will reminisce about holidays gone by and share all his favorite traditions including his favorite songs, stories, movies and magical moments. The dancers bring these memories to life creating a festive and nostalgic spark that will enlighten the audience. We know this season will be unlike any we have experienced before, but we know this show will provide that connection we all crave. We hope you will join us and invite your whole family to share this incredibly special event with our dancers. We are incredibly proud of the dancers who have worked so hard on this show and thrilled that we can continue to offer high quality art and programming here at the Citadel.
While we cannot sell conventional tickets for this event, we do have many unique opportunities available that will help raise the funds to not only make this event possible, but to also continue offering the high quality Citadel programming we are so proud of. Here’s how you can help.

"A Steamed Nutcracker" will return in 2021.
We realize we cannot stage this production due to the uncertainties we face in this global pandemic, HOWEVER, we are moving forward with a NEW production!
In June of 2015, the Citadel Dance Department presented an all new ballet written and produced by Director of Dance, Lari Lawrence-Gist, entitled “Steamed”. We introduced the audience to the main character, Sansa, who traveled thru time to try to prevent the destruction of the Earth at the hands of corrupt scientists who cared more for their inventions than that of the health and safety of the environment. In this Steampunk version of the classic “Nutcracker”, our heroine continues her journey. Sansa returns home to celebrate the holidays with her friends and family “a long time ago”. The Seer has forseen a great betrayal and comes to warn Sansa, but Sansa banishes her before she can show her the prophesy. The pirates ascend upon her home in the sky (a zeppelin) and a battle ensues. Sansa battles her enemies bravely, but during the action she is knocked unconscious. Her dreams are a Steampunk fantasy where all the characters of “Steamed” appear in extraordinary scenes. When she wakes, she must face the Seer and apologize for not listening before the Seer and her timekeepers send her and her loved ones reeling thru time once more.
“A Steamed Nutcracker” is open to dancers of ALL ages and abilities. Dancers ages 5 and 6 may sign up at Registration.
There is a $75 fee for this performance to cover costuming and production costs.
This production features a 30 piece professional orchestra.
